Brown Rice Price in Morocco (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average brown rice export price amounted to $657 per ton, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,030 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($627 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average brown rice import price stood at $1,245 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 73%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,550 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,109 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($713 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, brown rice exports from Morocco contracted sharply to 1.1K tons, waning by -36.3% against 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 265% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.7K tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
