Brown Rice Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average brown rice import price stood at $1,267 per ton in June 2023, rising by 3.2% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($1,443 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Brown Rice Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
The average brown rice export price stood at $1,560 per ton in June 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 17% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,603 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($2,452 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($967 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Brown Rice Imports in Italy
In 2022, approx. 112K tons of husked (brown) rice were imported into Italy; jumping by 29% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, brown rice imports surged to $115M in 2022.
