The average broken rice import price stood at $1,066 per ton in 2022, surging by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a prominent expansion. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($1,243 per ton), while the price for Thailand amounted to $519 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+4.1%).

Broken Rice Imports in Tunisia

For the third year in a row, Tunisia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of broken rice, which decreased by -9.3% to 1.4 tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The smallest decline of -4.8% was in 2021.

In value terms, broken rice imports surged to $1.5K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
