Benzene Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average benzene import price stood at $1,073 per ton in 2022, increasing by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,337 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,265 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($808 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Benzene Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average benzene export price amounted to $957 per ton, with an increase of 3.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 48%. The export price peaked at $1,288 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Belgium ($982 per ton) and the UK ($982 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($934 per ton) and Canada ($982 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (-1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Benzene Imports in the United States
In 2022, overseas purchases of benzene were finally on the rise to reach 1.3M tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn.

Benzene Exports in the United States
