Artificial Graphite Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average artificial graphite import price stood at $4,521 per ton in August 2023, rising by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 166% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,595 per ton. From April 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($9,874 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,312 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average artificial graphite export price stood at $5,719 per ton in August 2023, rising by 20% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 25% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $5,925 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($12,249 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($789 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Artificial Graphite Imports in the United States
In 2022, approx. 123K tons of artificial graphite were imported into the United States; jumping by 74% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
