Apple Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average apple import price stood at $909 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 5.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,125 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($1,109 per ton), while the price for Iran ($602 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average apple export price amounted to $734 per ton, which is down by -41% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 126% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,840 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Bhutan ($2,119 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal totaled $518 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Imports in India
In 2022, the amount of apples imported into India declined to 393K tons, reducing by -10% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 102%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 436K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, apple imports fell markedly to $314M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 87%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $377M, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

Apple Exports in India
In 2022, exports of apples from India surged to 53K tons, rising by 82% compared with the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
