Active Yeast Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2023

The average active yeast export price stood at $1,086 per ton in May 2023, flattening at the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a moderate increase from May 2022 to May 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, active yeast export price increased by +62.7% against September 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in May 2023.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In May 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Hungary ($1,100 per ton) and Poland ($1,080 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($943 per ton) and Croatia ($981 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Active Yeast Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022

The average active yeast import price stood at $3,505 per ton in 2022, surging by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,639 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,989 per ton), while the price for Russia ($735 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Active Yeast Exports in Ukraine

In 2022, overseas shipments of bakers and active yeast decreased by -16.2% to 26K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 5.2%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 32K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, active yeast exports fell slightly to $20M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 25%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $22M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Active Yeast Imports in Ukraine

In 2022, purchases abroad of bakers and active yeast decreased by -15.2% to 1.3K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 131% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, active yeast imports rose remarkably to $4.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
