In 2016, the amount of tube or pipe fitting exported worldwide amounted to 3.4M tonnes, approximately mirroring the previous year level. Overall, tube or pipe fitting exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when export increased by 19% year-to-year. Global tube or pipe fitting export peaked of 3.7M tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, tube or pipe fitting exports amounted to $15B in 2016. In general, tube or pipe fitting exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Global tube or pipe fitting export peaked of $20B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Tube Or Pipe Fitting Exports By Country

In 2016, China (1.6M tonnes) was the major exporter for tube or pipe fitting, creating 46% of total exports. Italy (282K tonnes) ranks second globally in tube or pipe fitting exports with a 8% share, following India (5%), and South Korea (5%). The U.S. (138K tonnes), Germany (135K tonnes), Saudi Arabia (74K tonnes), Spain (70K tonnes), and Thailand (51K tonnes) took the mild share of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+20.4%), and India (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +20.4% from 2007-2016. Spain, and the U.S. experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-2.1%), Germany (-2.6%), South Korea (-3.6%), and Thailand (-4.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Korea (2%), and Italy (2%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Saudi Arabia, and China saw its share reduced by -1.8%, and -4.0% from 2007 to 2016, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($3.6B) remains the largest tube or pipe fitting supplier in the world, making up 24% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Italy ($1.6B), with the share of 10% of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with the share of 9%.

In China, tube or pipe fitting exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2007-2016. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (-4.3% per year) and Germany (-1.0% per year).

Tube Or Pipe Fitting Export Prices By Country

The average tube or pipe fitting export price stood at $4,489 per tonne in 2016, coming down by -9.9% against the previous year. In general, tube or pipe fitting export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, when export price increased by 18% against the previous year level. Global tube or pipe fitting export peaked of $5,338 per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($11 per kg), while Saudi Arabia ($1,316 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of tube or pipe fitting export prices was attained by Thailand (+4.4% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
