Global iron angle exports amounted to 18M tonnes in 2016, approximately reflecting the previous year figure. Overall, iron angle exports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when export increased by 16% year-to-year. Over the period under review, global iron angle exports reached its maximum volume of 24M tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, iron angle exports totaled $10B in 2016. In general, iron angle exports continue to indicate a drastic curtailment. Global iron angle export peaked of $23B in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Iron Angle Exports By Country

The exports of the twelve major exporters of iron angle, namely Spain, Germany, Turkey, Luxembourg, South Korea, China, the U.S., Italy, Poland, Japan, Ukraine, and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of iron angle exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Spain (+4.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest iron angle markets worldwide were Spain ($1.2B), Germany ($1.2B) and Luxembourg ($753M), together comprising 31% of global exports.

Spain (-2.6% per year) had the highest rates of growth with regard to the iron angle exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Iron Angle Export Prices By Country

In 2016, the average export price for iron angle amounted to $571 per tonne, shrinking by -10.5% against the previous year. Overall, iron angle export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, when it surged by 24% against the previous year level. In that year, average iron angle export price attained its maximum level of $1,028 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average iron angle export price stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Germany ($705 per tonne), while Ukraine ($412 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of iron angle export prices was attained by Japan (-2.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
