Soup Price in America Increases to $2,670 per Ton
U.S. Soups Export Price in October 2022
In October 2022, the soups price stood at $2,670 per ton (FOB, US), growing by 3.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in October 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($3,538 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,004 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to October 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Soups Exports
For the third consecutive month, the United States recorded growth in shipments abroad of soups and broths, which increased by 2.5% to 26K tons in October 2022. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the period from January 2022 to October 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 36% against the previous month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 27K tons. From April 2022 to October 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, soups exports rose significantly to $69M (IndexBox estimates) in October 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% from January 2022 to October 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 30% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in October 2022.
U.S. Soups Exports by Country
Canada (13K tons), Mexico (9.7K tons) and Jamaica (429 tons) were the main destinations of soups exports from the United States, together accounting for 92% of total exports.
From January 2022 to October 2022, the biggest increases were in Jamaica (with a CAGR of +10.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($34M), Canada ($27M) and Jamaica ($1.2M) constituted the largest markets for soups exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 91% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Jamaica, with a CAGR of +13.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
