September 2023 Sees a 4% Rise in UK Imines Imports, Reaching $2M

United Kingdom Imines Imports

In September 2023, approximately 248 tons of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof were imported into the UK; shrinking by -13.2% against the previous month. In general, imports saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when imports increased by 54% against the previous month.

In value terms, imines imports expanded to $2M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2023. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. Imports by Country

China (80 tons), India (54 tons) and Germany (30 tons) were the main suppliers of imines imports to the UK, together comprising 66% of total imports.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +10.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest imines suppliers to the UK were China ($682K), Germany ($360K) and India ($168K), together accounting for 60% of total imports.

India, with a CAGR of +11.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

In September 2023, the imines price stood at $8,080 per ton (CIF, United Kingdom), increasing by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $13,424 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($19,810 per ton), while the price for India ($3,103 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
