Thailand Cereal, Fruit or Nut Chocolate Bar Import Price in May 2023

In May 2023, the cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar price amounted to $8,359 per ton (CIF, Thailand), increasing by 16% against the previous month. Over the period from May 2022 to May 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($21,171 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($2,313 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Thailand Cereal, Fruit or Nut Chocolate Bar Imports

Imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts into Thailand expanded remarkably to 431 tons in May 2023, picking up by 5.3% against the month before. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 with an increase of 38% month-to-month.

In value terms, imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts surged to $3.6M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 with an increase of 42% m-o-m.

Thailand Cereal, Fruit or Nut Chocolate Bar Imports by Country

Malaysia (135 tons), Indonesia (93 tons) and Germany (62 tons) were the main suppliers of imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts to Thailand, with a combined 67% share of total imports. the Philippines, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Australia, Turkey, Singapore and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +81.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Malaysia ($1.5M) constituted the largest supplier of cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar to Thailand, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($594K), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with an 8.1% share.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Malaysia amounted to -1.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (+1.6% per month) and Indonesia (-4.5% per month).
