Chocolate Bar Price in Spain Stands at $5,417 per Ton
Spain Chocolate Bar Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the chocolate bar price amounted to $5,417 per ton (FOB, Spain), stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 9.9% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,674 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,997 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($4,272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spain Chocolate Bar Exports
In September 2022, the amount of chocolate bars with added cereal, fruit or nuts exported from Spain skyrocketed to 3.5K tons, increasing by 33% compared with the previous month. Overall, total exports indicated a tangible expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports increased by +33.3% against August 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 41% month-to-month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.7K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, chocolate bar exports surged to $19M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated moderate growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports increased by +33.5% against August 2022 indices. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 22K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Spain Chocolate Bar Exports by Country
France (1.5K tons) was the main destination for chocolate bar exports from Spain, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, chocolate bar exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Portugal (346 tons), fourfold. The UK (346 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to France was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Portugal (+0.1% per month) and the UK (+10.5% per month).
In value terms, France ($6.3M) remains the key foreign market for chocolate bar exports from Spain, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($2.4M), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Portugal, with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to France amounted to +1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the UK (+10.8% per month) and Portugal (+1.8% per month).
