Japan's Aniline Derivatives Witness Steep Price Surge, Reaching $3,877 per Ton
Japan Aniline Derivatives Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the aniline derivatives price stood at $3,877 per ton (CIF, Japan), rising by 39% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 51% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,312 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to April 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($4,996 per ton), while the price for China totaled $3,177 per ton.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+1.3%).

Japan Aniline Derivatives Imports
In April 2023, overseas purchases of aniline derivatives and their salts increased by 50% to 301 tons, rising for the second consecutive month after six months of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 77% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of 703 tons. From July 2022 to April 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aniline derivatives imports skyrocketed to $1.2M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
Japan Aniline Derivatives Imports by Country
China (181 tons) and India (117 tons) were the main suppliers of aniline derivatives imports to Japan.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +5.2%).
In value terms, India ($582K) and China ($575K) appeared to be the largest aniline derivatives suppliers to Japan.
China, with a CAGR of +3.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review.
