Chlorosulphuric Acid Price in Germany Plummets 16% to $229 per Ton
Germany Chlorosulphuric Acid Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the chlorosulphuric acid price amounted to $229 per ton (CIF, Germany), declining by -16.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 90% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $463 per ton. From August 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($834 per ton), while the price for Poland ($98.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Germany Chlorosulphuric Acid Imports
In September 2022, chlorosulphuric acid imports into Germany reduced notably to 916 tons, shrinking by -16.3% compared with August 2022 figures. In general, imports, however, showed slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when imports increased by 118% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 1.4K tons in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chlorosulphuric acid imports contracted rapidly to $210K (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when imports increased by 68% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $342K. From March 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In September 2022, Poland (734 tons) constituted the largest chlorosulphuric acid supplier to Germany, accounting for a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, chlorosulphuric acid imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Switzerland (137 tons), fivefold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Poland totaled +3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Switzerland (-6.7% per month) and Hungary (+0.2% per month).
In value terms, Switzerland ($114K), Poland ($72K) and Hungary ($24K) constituted the largest chlorosulphuric acid suppliers to Germany, together comprising 99.9% of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +2.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
