China Ranks First Globally in Exports of Tyres for Motorcycles or Bicycles, with $591M in 2014

China dominates in the global tyres for motorcycles or bicycles trade. In 2014, China exported 84.9 million units of tyres for motorcycles or bicycles totaling 591 million USD, 12% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Nigeria, where it supplied 12% of its total tyres for motorcycles or bicycles exports in value terms, accounting for 97.5% of Nigeria's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of tyres for motorcycles or bicycles. Over the period under review, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was more pronounced due to high import prices.

Germany and Thailand were among the other main global suppliers of tyres for motorcycles or bicycles in 2014. China and India were the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 (15.5% and 11.2% per year, respectively). With this, China was able to strengthen its position as the leader in the global export structure.

In 2014, China's top 5 trading partners were Nigeria, Colombia, Mexico, Germany and the U.S., with a combined share 31% of China's exports. The share of Colombia increased significantly (+2.3 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-4.8 percentage points).
