China dominates in the global escalator and moving walkway trade. In 2014, China exported 75 thousand tonnes of escalators and moving walkways totaling 642 million USD, 2% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the Republic of Korea, where it supplied 9.2% of its total escalator and moving walkway exports in value terms, accounting for 87.5% of the Republic of Korea's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter on the global escalator market. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.

Germany and Slovakia were among the other main global suppliers of escalators and moving walkways in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+5.1% per year) and Italy (+8.9% per year). With this, China was able to continue to strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, China's top 5 trading partners were the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Iran, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, with a combined 32.0% share of China's escalator and moving walkway exports. The share of Iran increased modestly (+4.1 percentage points), while the share of Turkey illustrated negative dynamics (-1.5 percentage points).
