Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 78%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

The following importers - Niger (X tons) and Liberia (X tons) - together made up 6.1% of total imports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per ton), while Mali ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
