Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 15,623%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main destinations of fresh chicken cut exports from Ukraine, together comprising 92% of total exports.

In general, export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 80%. Imports into Ukraine

In 2021, supplies from abroad of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 385%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut imports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 448%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest fresh chicken cut supplier to Ukraine, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, fresh chicken cut imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), threefold. Hungary (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.3% share.

In 2021, the average fresh chicken cut import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 59%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
