In value terms, exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Sudan (X units), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) and Burundi (X units) were the main destinations of exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) from Uganda, together comprising X% of total exports. Moreover, exports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) in South Sudan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, Democratic Republic of the Congo, twofold.

Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of internal combustion engines, excluding diesel (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) fell rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Tanzania (X units) constituted the largest internal combustion engine (excl. diesel, moto vehicle and aircraft) supplier to Uganda, accounting for a X% share of total imports.
