Decaffeinated Coffee Market Size in Uganda

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was growth in the Ugandan decaffeinated coffee market, when its value increased by X% to $X. Exports from Uganda

In 2022, shipments abroad of decaffeinated coffee decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, decaffeinated coffee exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for decaffeinated coffee exports from Uganda, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, decaffeinated coffee exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Africa (X kg), with less than X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (X% per year) and South Africa (X% per year).

Imports into Uganda

In 2022, the amount of decaffeinated coffee imported into Uganda contracted rapidly to X kg, which is down by X% compared with the year before. In general, imports showed a significant decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, decaffeinated coffee imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Malaysia (X kg), the United Arab Emirates (X kg) and China (X kg) were the main suppliers of decaffeinated coffee imports to Uganda, together comprising X% of total imports.
