Desktop Computer Market Size in the U.S.
The U.S. desktop computer market surged to $X in 2021, rising by 29% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. Desktop computer consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of desktop computers were finally on the rise to reach X units after four years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, desktop computer exports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Canada (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Paraguay (X units) were the main destinations of desktop computer exports from the United States, together accounting for 47% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +25.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for desktop computer exports from the United States, comprising 30% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada totaled -4.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+17.3% per year) and the UK (-6.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average desktop computer export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -18.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 7.6%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the U.S.
Desktop computer imports into the United States soared to X units in 2021, with an increase of 33% against 2020. In general, imports showed a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 92%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, desktop computer imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of desktop computer to the United States, accounting for a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, desktop computer imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Mexico (X units), with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +3.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.8% per year) and Mexico (+9.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of desktop computer to the United States, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled -1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.0% per year) and Mexico (+5.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average desktop computer import price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 103% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while the price for South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
