The South Asian files and rasps market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a mild decline. Afghanistan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Bangladesh (X units) and Pakistan (X units). All these countries together held near 50% share of total imports. The following importers - Sri Lanka (X units) and Nepal (X units) - each amounted to a 5.6% share of total imports.

Imports into India decreased at an average annual rate of -6.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Afghanistan (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Afghanistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +1.3% from 2012-2022. Bangladesh experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Pakistan (-5.1%), Sri Lanka (-5.3%) and Nepal (-15.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
