Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, fresh whole chicken imports dropped slightly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2019, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Viet Nam was the largest importer of fresh or chilled whole chickens in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2019. The Philippines (X tonnes) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tonnes). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. Malaysia (X tonnes) occupied a relatively small share of total imports.
