Glass Fibre Mat Market Size in Serbia

The Serbian glass fibre mat market shrank sharply to $X in 2022, dropping by -19.1% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight increase. After two years of decline, overseas shipments of glass fibre mats increased by 38% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 335%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 379%. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Austria (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Serbia, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre mat exports to Austria exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Montenegro (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Austria was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Montenegro (-9.7% per year) and Romania (-6.2% per year).

In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre mats exports from Serbia, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 5.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Austria was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (-8.5% per year) and Montenegro (-9.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Serbia

In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre mats were imported into Serbia; waning by -12.5% against the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +16.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 127%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +22.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 101%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Belarus (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of glass fibre mat to Serbia, accounting for a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre mat imports from Belarus exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. Egypt (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belarus amounted to +67.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-4.5% per year) and Egypt (-4.4% per year).

In value terms, Belarus ($X), China ($X) and Egypt ($X) appeared to be the largest glass fibre mat suppliers to Serbia, together comprising 70% of total imports.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +81.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 16%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+34.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
