Raw Silk Market Size in SADC

The SADC raw silk market fell modestly to $X in 2022, which is down by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Mozambique was the largest importing country with an import of around X kg, which accounted for X% of total imports. Swaziland (X kg) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Angola (X kg), Zimbabwe (X kg) and Lesotho (X kg). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Botswana (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to raw silk imports into Mozambique stood at X%. At the same time, Botswana (X%) and Swaziland (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Botswana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Zimbabwe experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
