As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In 2023, South Africa (X tons) was the largest exporter of common pottery in SADC, generating X% of total export.

South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the common pottery exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. While the share of South Africa (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) also remains the largest common pottery supplier in SADC.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, common pottery imports declined to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, showed a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

South Africa was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at X% of total imports. Mozambique (X tons) took an X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Angola (X%), Zimbabwe (X%) and Tanzania (X%). The following importers - Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) and Zambia (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of common pottery. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Mozambique (X%), Zimbabwe (X%) and Zambia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Tanzania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Angola (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mozambique (X p.p.), Zimbabwe (X p.p.) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while South Africa and Angola saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported common pottery in SADC, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Angola ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Mozambique, with a X% share.

In South Africa, common pottery imports decreased by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Angola (X% per year) and Mozambique (X% per year).

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
