The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 43%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, South Africa (X tons), distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons), Madagascar (X tons), Mozambique (X tons), Zambia (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) and Zimbabwe (X tons) were the largest importers of chemical contraceptive preparations based on hormones or spermicides, together creating 92% of total imports.
