Carboxylic Acid Market Size in Republic of Korea

The South Korean carboxylic acid market declined to $X in 2020, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. For the fourth year in a row, South Korea recorded growth in overseas shipments of carboxylic acid with alcohol, phenol, aldehyde or ketone functions, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, carboxylic acid exports dropped slightly to $X in 2020. In general, exports showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2019, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

The U.S. (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main destinations of carboxylic acid exports from South Korea, together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, France, India, Brazil and Viet Nam, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in India, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for carboxylic acid exported from South Korea were Japan ($X), the U.S. ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, India, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Viet Nam, Taiwan (Chinese), Brazil, Indonesia, the UK and France, which together accounted for a further X United Arab Emirates saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was India ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Republic of Korea

In 2020, the amount of carboxylic acid with alcohol, phenol, aldehyde or ketone functions imported into South Korea soared to X tonnes, with an increase of X% compared with 2019 figures. In general, imports saw a prominent expansion. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, carboxylic acid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant expansion. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
