China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lithium cells ans batteries exports, with a CAGR of +29.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+29.5%), Belgium (+14.7%), the Netherlands (+10.3%), South Korea (+9.3%), Germany (+8.0%), Hong Kong SAR (+6.3%), Indonesia (+5.4%), France (+4.1%), Japan (+3.2%) and the UK (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Singapore (-1.7%) and the United States (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Poland and Belgium increased by +17, +3.3 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest lithium battery supplying countries from Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), China ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), together accounting for 37% of total exports. Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, France, South Korea, Belgium, Poland and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +26.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The following importers - the Netherlands (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), the UK (X tons), France (X tons), Poland (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - together made up 26% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +59.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest lithium battery importing markets into Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Singapore ($X), together comprising 25% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, China, Vietnam, Mexico, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, Poland, Belgium and France, which together accounted for a further 40%.
