The shipments of the eleven major exporters of dissolving grade wood pulp, namely Indonesia, South Africa, the United States, Brazil, Malaysia, Sweden, Canada, Chile, Finland, Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Czech Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - Norway (X tons) and France (X tons) - each reached a 4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Chile (with a CAGR of +416.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest dissolving grade wood pulp supplying countries from Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), South Africa ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together comprising 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Sweden, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Finland, the Czech Republic, Norway, Malaysia and France, which together accounted for a further 47%.

Among the main exporting countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +663.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The United States (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Japan (X tons), Macao SAR (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+93.7%), India (+14.4%) and Thailand (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +93.7% from 2012-2021. Indonesia, Germany and the United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-3.2%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.4%) and Macao SAR (-29.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+18 p.p.), India (+5.9 p.p.) and Malaysia (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-2 p.p.), the United States (-2.3 p.p.), Germany (-2.8 p.p.), Indonesia (-2.8 p.p.) and Macao SAR (-11.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dissolving grade wood pulp into Puerto Rico, comprising 55% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 10% share of global imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 6.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +6.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+11.0% per year) and Indonesia (-0.4% per year).
