Carpet Market Size in Norway

After two years of growth, the Norwegian carpet market decreased by -X% to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, carpet exports soared to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Sweden (X tonnes) was the main destination for carpet exports from Norway, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, carpet exports to Sweden exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tonnes), threefold. Latvia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Sweden stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and Latvia (+X% per year).

In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for carpet exports from Norway, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of value to Sweden totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and Denmark (-X% per year).

The average carpet export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, carpet export price increased by +X% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2019, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Carpet imports into Norway rose modestly to X tonnes in 2019, picking up by X% compared with 2018. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.
