The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crispbread imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +38.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Guyana (-1.1%), Ecuador (-6.0%), Suriname (-9.0%) and Venezuela (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Peru and Uruguay increased by +27, +12 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported crispbread in MERCOSUR, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Venezuela ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil, with an 8.9% share.
