Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2023 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Egypt was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sweet potatoes exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Egypt increased by X percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Imports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the largest importers of sweet potatoes in 2023, finishing at near X% and X% of total imports, respectively. Kuwait (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Qatar (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Bahrain (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

Qatar, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2022, and then declined in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
