Turkey dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Iran (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Israel (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the antisera and other blood fractions exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Iran (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Israel experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. For the seventh consecutive year, MENA recorded growth in supplies from abroad of antisera and other blood fractions, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, antisera imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of antisera and other blood fractions, namely Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, represented more than half of total import. Iran (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Saudi Arabia (X%). Iraq (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Libya (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Algeria, Iraq, Libya and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X,822 per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
