Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Argentina represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 55% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Mexico (X tons), together constituting a 42% share of total exports.

Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of concentrated lemon and other citrus fruit juice. At the same time, Brazil (+17.4%), Peru (+3.2%) and Mexico (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +17.4% from 2012-2021. Brazil (+12 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Mexico and Argentina saw its share reduced by -1.6% and -10.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Argentina totaled -2.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+0.2% per year) and Brazil (+12.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, falling by -10.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, purchases abroad of concentrated lemon and other citrus fruit juice was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of concentrated lemon and other citrus fruit juice contracted notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
