Overall, exports saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, exports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2009 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, potassic fertilizer exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. From 2009 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Brazil (X tonnes) was the main destination for potassic fertilizer exports from Germany, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, potassic fertilizer exports to Brazil exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Belgium (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Brazil stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+X% per year) and Belgium (-X% per year).

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the key foreign market for potassic fertilizer exports from Germany, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Poland ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Brazil was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+X% per year) and Belgium (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average potassic fertilizer export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to India ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany

In 2020, supplies from abroad of potassic fertilizers (mineral and chemical) increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. In general, imports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, potassic fertilizer imports rose significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, the UK (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of potassic fertilizer to Germany, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, potassic fertilizer imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Israel (X tonnes), threefold. The Netherlands (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from the UK totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+X% per year) and the Netherlands (-X% per year).

In value terms, the UK ($X), Israel ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest potassic fertilizer suppliers to Germany, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Spain, which accounted for a further X the main suppliers, Spain (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average potassic fertilizer import price amounted to $X per tonne, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% y-o-y. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per tonne), while the price for the UK ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
