Cement Market Size in GCC

The GCC cement market dropped to $X in 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a slight downturn. In value terms, cement exports declined slightly to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible reduction. Exports by Country

In 2023, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the major exporter of cement, creating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Oman (X tons), together making up a X% share of total exports.

Exports from the United Arab Emirates decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Oman (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest cement supplier in GCC, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2016 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cement imports surged to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of cement, namely Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Qatar (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, Oman ($X), Kuwait ($X) and Bahrain ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Among the main importing countries, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2023, reducing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2023, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
