The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -25.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Spain (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main exporters of non-electric bakery ovens in 2022, finishing at approx. 34% and 25% of total exports, respectively. Germany (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 8.7% share, followed by Denmark (6.5%) and Slovenia (5.1%). Over the period under review, imports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (+46 p.p.), Greece (+7.9 p.p.) and Norway (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the UK, Italy, Germany, Romania, France, Poland and Russia saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -2.7%, -3.3%, -3.6%, -4.2%, -4.3% and -17.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Spain ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 36% of total imports. The UK, Poland, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Norway and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +18.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -30.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
