Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 339% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, tobacco making machinery imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 184% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 23% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 77%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Switzerland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
