Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric rotary converter exports declined notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X units) represented the major exporter of electric rotary converters, generating 47% of total exports. The Netherlands (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by the Czech Republic (8.4%), Spain (7.4%), Denmark (6.8%) and Italy (5.1%). France (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Germany decreased at an average annual rate of -9.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, France (+14.1%), Italy (+12.3%), Denmark (+11.0%) and the Netherlands (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, France emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +14.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.4%) and Spain (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, the Czech Republic and France increased by +7.2, +5.3, +4.1, +3.3 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest electric rotary converter supplier in the European Union, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 6.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled -8.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (-13.9% per year) and Denmark (-18.7% per year).

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -31.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 167% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of electric rotary converters decreased by -32.6% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 119%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, electric rotary converter imports contracted slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The Netherlands prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 80% of total imports in 2021. Denmark (X units), France (X units), Sweden (X units), Poland (X units), Spain (X units) and Hungary (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+47.5%) and Denmark (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +47.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Sweden (-7.5%), France (-12.7%), Poland (-13.9%) and Spain (-19.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+35 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Sweden, Poland, France and Spain saw its share reduced by -2.2%, -5.3%, -7% and -10.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
