In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of single loudspeakers (in enclosure), when their volume increased by 51% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 94%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, loudspeaker exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The biggest shipments were from Togo (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units), together recording 86% of total export. Liberia (X units), Benin (X units), Senegal (X units) and Ghana (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Liberia (with a CAGR of +27.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Togo ($X) remains the largest loudspeaker supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nigeria ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Togo amounted to +17.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nigeria (+15.1% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+0.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 37% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2021, imports of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) in ECOWAS surged to X units, picking up by 16% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 224%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, loudspeaker imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 103%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The countries with the highest levels of loudspeaker imports in 2021 were Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Ghana (X units) and Senegal (X units), together resulting at 79% of total import. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X units), mixing up a 9.6% share of total imports. Benin (X units) and Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Senegal (with a CAGR of +65.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ghana ($X), Senegal ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 77% share of total imports.

Senegal, with a CAGR of +56.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 54%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Guinea ($X per unit), while Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+16.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
