Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2019, overseas shipments of dates increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure in 2019 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, date exports rose markedly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2019 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2019, Slovakia (X tonnes) represented the main exporter of dates, achieving X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tonnes), the Czech Republic (X tonnes), Lithuania (X tonnes), Latvia (X tonnes) and Poland (X tonnes), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Bulgaria (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Slovakia, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export price indicated perceptible growth from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, date export price decreased by -X% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
