Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles exports dropped notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for plastic ornamental articles exports from the Czech Republic, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic ornamental articles exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), fourfold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+3.2% per year) and Austria (+39.5% per year).

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 44% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic ornamental articles imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest plastic ornamental articles supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic ornamental articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 5.2% share.

Overall, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plastic ornamental articles import price increased by +8.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
