Fig Market Size in the Czech Republic

The revenue of the fig market in the Czech Republic amounted to $X in 2018, waning by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, fig consumption, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the fig market attained its peak figure level at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In 2018, the amount of figs exported from the Czech Republic stood at X tonnes, declining by -X% against the previous year. In general, fig exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, fig exports reached their peak of X tonnes. From 2015 to 2018, the growth of fig exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fig exports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, fig exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Slovakia (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes) and Hungary (X tonnes) were the main destinations of fig exports from the Czech Republic, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for fig exported from the Czech Republic were Slovakia ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X), together comprising X% of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, fig export price increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the average export prices for figs reached their maximum at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fig Imports

Imports into the Czech Republic

Fig imports into the Czech Republic totaled X tonnes in 2018, coming down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, fig imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, fig imports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, fig imports stood at $X in 2018. Overall, fig imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Turkey (X tonnes) constituted the largest fig supplier to the Czech Republic, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fig imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Greece (X tonnes), twofold. Germany (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fig to the Czech Republic, comprising X% of total fig imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Greece ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Greece (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average fig import price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the fig import price, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per tonne), while the price for Costa Rica ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
