The shipments of the three major exporters of jellyfish, dried, salted or in brine, smoked, namely Mexico, Malaysia and China, represented more than half of total export. South Korea (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Bahrain (X tons) and Japan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 32% share of total exports. India (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in South Korea (with a CAGR of +108.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Mexico ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 54% of total exports. These countries were followed by China, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, Bahrain and India, which together accounted for a further 39%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +77.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

China (X tons) represented roughly 56% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by South Korea (15%). Japan (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, jellyfish, dried, salted or in brine, smoked imports into expanded with a Vietnam of +30.9%, while China (+27.1%) experienced a significant increase unchanged over the same period. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with an 18% share of global imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +26.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+6.8% per year) and Malaysia (+50.5% per year).
