In value terms, bismuth exports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan (X tons) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2021.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the bismuth exports, with a CAGR of +24.1% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest bismuth supplier in the CIS.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bismuth imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia was the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 75% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), mixing up a 24% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bismuth imports into Russia stood at -9.8%. Belarus (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +11 percentage points.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bismuth in the CIS, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus totaled $X per ton.
