In value terms, bicycle exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 110%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Belarus (X units) and Russia (X units) were the major exporters of bicycles and other cycles in the CIS, together committing 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), creating a 13% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 46%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+22.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X units of bicycles and other cycles were imported in the CIS; increasing by 34% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

At the same time, Uzbekistan (+75.2%), Azerbaijan (+58.5%), Belarus (+19.9%), Armenia (+10.7%) and Kazakhstan (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +75.2% from 2012-2021. While the share of Azerbaijan (+5.8 p.p.), Belarus (+4.5 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+2.5 p.p.) and Armenia (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-3.9 p.p.) and Russia (-12.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bicycles and other cycles in the CIS, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.2% share.

In Russia, bicycle imports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+14.1% per year) and Belarus (+17.3% per year).
