Garlic Market Size in China
The Chinese garlic market expanded slightly to $X in 2021, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Indonesia (X tonnes) was the main destination for garlic exports from China, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, garlic exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Malaysia (X tonnes), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Indonesia stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+X% per year) and Malaysia (+X% per year).
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the largest markets for garlic exported from China worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average garlic export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, garlic export price increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2017 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of garlic imported into China skyrocketed to X tonnes, rising by X% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Import Prices by Country
