The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Imports into Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Taiwan (Chinese) (+X%), Bangladesh (+X%), Yemen (+X%), Vietnam (+X%), Pakistan (+X%), the United Arab Emirates (+X%), Saudi Arabia (+X%), Malaysia (+X%), Sri Lanka (+X%), Thailand (+X%) and Japan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Taiwan (Chinese) emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Vietnam and Bangladesh increased by +X and +X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest garlic importing markets in Asia were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, garlic import price increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
